Granola, the sister to Giz, Grif and Griz, is one of the smartest females in the liter. She takes after her father, Gremlin, who ran numerous Iditarods with Bruce and others.

She is a superstar lead dog and is loved by all the staff, but most of all - two year old Shea. Shea can't go out into the yard without Granola rolling over and pawing for a good old fashioned belly rub!!!

"Griffin"

Ruby and McKinley are sisters - a breeding with split with Dean Osmar's Shark and our Rosie, who is also from Osmar lines. Ruby is solid team dogs and loves to run. She is little, white with the pinkest nose we have ever seen, but she has spunk.

"McKinley"

McKinley, hard to handle at times, is maturing into her own. She is strong, it is just a matter of harnessing the energy.

Gizmo, a member of the "GR" litter only not a GR name is a balanced mix between his mother, our beloved Rosie (Osmar line) and Gremlin from Rick Swenson's kennel.

Weasley, named after Ron - the red head boy, is a quirkly dog does not like to get to the gang line. But once his is on, he has been doing great in team.

"Kiwi"

Leader, Two- Time Iditarod Finisher

Age 9
This sled dog needs a sponsor...

Kiwi, the alpha dog in our kennel, is an amazing leader with extreme endurance. Her radar ears are always hyper-sensitive to Bruce’s every command. She is the go-to dog whenever the trail becomes non existent in blizzards or white out conditions. Her toughness and stubbornness is unmatched in the kennel and is a critical part of Bruce’s Iditarod team. She is one of Bruce’s first dogs which he acquired from Jon Little as a yearling when he was living in Vermont. She is the daughter of Jon Little’s prized lead dog Kazan, and Dean Osmar’s famous Shark – Kiwi is one of the famed K-pups!

"Maya"
Leader, Two-Time Iditarod Finisher

Age 10
Sponsored by - Janet Burton, Princeton NJ

Maya does not look like your typical Alaskan husky, but don’t let her teddy bear attitude and friendly demeanor fool you! Though she loves to hang out inside our cabin on the couch, her sweet, friendly, adoring demeanor is matched with a steady trot and a toughness that never waivers. She is not the fastest dog, but can be counted on in any situation or trail condition. She and Kiwi have finished just about every race in lead that Bruce has competed in throughout his entire career. She was acquired from Jon Little way back in the days when Bruce was living in Vermont. Her mother is Handel one of Jon’s favorite lead dogs and father is Romeo, both dogs originating from Jeff King.

"Frodo"
Leader, Swing Dog, Iditarod Finisher

Age 5
This sled dog needs a sponsor...

Pretty boy Frodo is the only dog in our kennel who literally greets you with a smile. Sleek, fast, and light on his feet, Frodo is one of five pups named after the Lord of the Rings. All five are in training for next years Iditarod team. He is from our kennel’s first litter and was born on Vermont soil. He is one of our fastest dogs and when he is put in lead his drive can cause the team to go one to two mph faster. He is out of Mitch Seavey lines, her mother being May (who is also in our kennel) and father Piper, one of Mitch’s best male leaders.

"Warlock"

Team Dog

Sponsored by
Marjorie Hanks,
San Luis Obispo, CA

The last of the Halloween litter, Warlock is very similar to Phantom in appearance and work ethic. Bruce has a hard time telling him apart from Phantom. He is one of the largest dogs in our kennel and one of the most powerful. A little more time in harness, a little more maturing, and this dog has the potential to be a shining superstar!

"May"

Team Dog, Two – Time Iditarod Finisher

Sponsored by
Marjorie Hanks,
San Luis Obispo, CA

May is the mother of the Lord of the Rings litter. She gave us our first litter and all of her siblings are rising stars. She is a scrappy, thin dog, but is sleek and fast. She has a light trot and yet is very durable. She always makes it look so easily when she trains and races. She was purchased from Mitch Seavey and is from Bill Cotter breeding, her father being Pele and her mother being Pretty.

"Moscow"

Team Dog, Lead Dog in Training

Age 4
Sponsored by Thomas Screven, San Carlos, CA

Moscow is the only male in a litter of eight. Rosie gave birth to him a few weeks after Bruce moved to Alaska. He is an extremely strong dog and has tremendous drive. He is hardheaded and stubborn as well which he gets from Vitus his father. As a yearling, he progressed so much faster then all of his female siblings. In fact, last year he matured so quickly that Bruce contemplated racing him in Iditarod 2008, but decided against it because he was so young. He is a rising superstar and Bruce envisions him being an important member of the Iditarod team for 2009.

"Gimli"

Team Dog, Iditarod Finisher

Age 5
This sled dog needs a sponsor...

Sibling of Frodo, and part of the "Lord of the Rings" litter, Gimli is also light footed, happy to run, but scrappy and still immature. We are hopeful he will grow out of this and step up to the plate to make this year’s Iditarod team. He finished last years Iditarod and we are currently training him in lead. We’ll see how it goes…

"Rosie"
Honorable Mention
Team Dog

Age 10

Our dog descriptions in our kennel would not be complete without mentioning Rosie. She was purchased from Dean Osmar when Bruce was living in Vermont in 2003. An extremely loving, affectionate dog, she produced the second litter that Bruce ever had. A true friend and companion to Bruce, she rode shotgun in Bruce’s truck pregnant as he drove the 5,500 miles from Vermont to Kasilof, Alaska when he pack up all of his life long belongings and make the permanent move out west. She still is often found in Bruce’s front seat when he drives around town doing errands (or on the couch in the cabin). She has produced some incredible offspring through the years including some now famous dogs (Giesha and A.D.) that led Dee Dee Jonrowe to a fourth place finish in Iditarod 2006. Since then, she has had several litters for Bruce and the backbone of his future dog teams will have a lot to do with this incredible dog.

" Vitus"
In Memory
Team Dog,

Age 12

Vitus is an extremely powerful, hardheaded, and sometimes stubborn dog. He is a workhorse and has completed many of the early races that Bruce participated in before he completed his first Iditarod. He is the father of Bruce’s second litter (he was bred to Rosie) and the resulting offspring are just incredible. He probably will not make the Iditarod Team in 2009, but you never know with this incredible dog. He is out of Paul Gebhardt’s famous Red Dog and Jon Little’s Kazan.
